How it's organised
Updates are grouped into categories, and each category has its own switches for the channels it supports:
- SMS
- Push
So you can take booking requests by SMS and everything else by email, or turn a whole category off across every channel.
Turning a channel off entirely tells you what you'll miss — for example, You will no longer receive any email notifications from DJfindr.
The categories
Your list won't necessarily match this one exactly. Categories depend on your plan and how you use DJfindr, and we add and retire them as features change. These are the ones most DJs have:
| Category | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Events | Booking requests, proposal responses, status changes, and reminders about upcoming events |
| Messages | New messages from clients |
| Payments | Payments collected, failed, or refunded, and payouts on their way to your bank |
| PayLinks | Activity on the payment links you create |
| Reviews | When a client leaves you a review |
| Live Events | Updates about the live events on your profile |
| Account | Sign-in, security, and changes to your account |
| Marketing | Offers and announcements from DJfindr |
| Product Updates | New features and changes to the platform |
| The Dispatch Blog | New posts on our blog |
If you see a category that isn't listed here, its name describes what it covers. New ones appear as we ship features, and a category tied to something you don't use may not show at all.
What to leave on
Three categories are time-sensitive enough that turning them off costs you money:
Events. New booking requests land here. Clients usually contact several DJs, and the one who replies first often gets the booking.
Payments. Especially a failed remainder on a deposit booking — if that isn't paid by its due date, the event is canceled and the deposit is forfeited. Knowing early gives you time to message the client.
Messages. A client question left unanswered for two days usually becomes someone else's booking.
Marketing, Product Updates, and The Dispatch Blog are the safe ones to switch off if you'd rather keep your inbox clear.
SMS
There's an SMS Opt-in switch. Turning it on means you agree to receive transactional SMS from DJfindr for the categories you've selected. Standard message rates apply and you can opt out at any time.
SMS is worth it for booking requests specifically. It's the only channel that reaches you while you're working.
Make sure your phone number under Personal is current first.
The notification bell
The bell in the header opens your in-app notifications regardless of these settings. Filter by All or Unread, use Mark all read to clear the list, or open a single one to jump to what it's about.
If notifications stop arriving
Check your spam folder first, then that the category is still switched on here, then that the email address under Personal is the one you're actually checking.
