Every live event has a status. Filter by it on Content → Live Events using the Status dropdown.

Draft
Where an event starts. Nothing is public, so you can build it over several sittings, wait on artwork, or hold it until a lineup is confirmed.
You can still preview a draft and share that preview with a promoter before anyone else sees it. See Previewing and Sharing a Live Event.
Published
Live. Where it actually shows depends on whether it's public or unlisted — see Public vs Unlisted Live Events.
Archived vs Canceled
These are different and the distinction matters to anyone who was planning to come.
Archived — the event is done, or you're taking the page down. Use it for past events you don't want cluttering your profile.
Canceled — the event was going to happen and now isn't. Use it when people may have been planning to attend, or may have bought tickets.
Both remove the event from public discovery. Confirming either shows: Please confirm that you would like to [archive or cancel] the event: your event. It will no longer appear in public discovery.
If you cancel a ticketed event
Setting the status to canceled takes the page down. It doesn't refund anyone — tickets are sold wherever your ticket link points, so refunds are handled there.
Do that first, then cancel the event here. Someone who paid and finds a dead page has a worse experience than someone who got a refund notice.
Tidying up past events
Old events don't remove themselves. A profile showing a night from eight months ago as the most recent thing reads worse than an empty section.
Worth a periodic pass: archive what's finished, keep what's upcoming. The Status filter makes this quick.
Hiding the whole section instead
If you've got nothing coming up, the Display on profile switch at the top of Content → Live Events hides the Events tab entirely — better than showing No live events coming up, yet! to everyone who visits.
