**Booking Extensions** is under **Content → Profile → Services**. It controls whether a client can ask you to stay longer while an event is running, and what you charge if they do.

## Turning it on

Set an hourly rate in the **Booking Extensions** field and switch it on.

With it off, clients see **Event extension unavailable** on their event and there's no way to request more time through the app.

## What the rate is

Your hourly rate for extra time added during an event. It's a starting point rather than a fixed price — when a request comes in, you set the actual rate before approving it. Clients are told upfront that you may adjust it.

## Pricing it

Higher than your booking rate is normal and expected. An extra hour at the end of a night isn't the same as an hour in the middle:

- You'd planned to be packing down
- It can push you into venue overtime, or past a curfew
- You're driving home later
- If you have another booking the next day, it costs you sleep

Something in the range of 1.25 to 1.5 times your booking rate is a reasonable default. You can always set it lower on the night for a client you're enjoying working with.

## Why to turn it on

It's straightforward extra income at the moment a client is most willing to pay. A wedding that's going well at midnight is exactly when someone will happily pay for another hour — and if there's no way to do it through the app, that money either doesn't happen or happens as cash, off-platform.

## Why you might not

If you regularly have a second booking, a long drive, or a hard curfew, leaving extensions off avoids an awkward conversation on the night. You can decline individual requests instead, which keeps the option open.

## How a request works

The client requests hours, you set a rate and accept, they pay, and the extension is confirmed. Until they pay, you're not obliged to keep playing — and they're told that. See [Event Extensions: Approving Extra Time](/hc/djs/articles/managing-event-extensions-and-extra-time).

## Getting paid

An extension creates its own payment with your normal platform fee and payout delay.

## Changing it

Edit the rate any time. It applies to future requests, not to an extension already agreed.
