Deactivating removes your access and takes your profile out of search. Before you do it, there are things worth settling — some of them can't be handled afterwards.

## Settle these first

**Active bookings.** A confirmed event is an agreement with a client who has paid you. Deactivating doesn't cancel it or release you from it. Either play the event or talk to the client and settle it properly before you go.

**Money owed to you.** Check **Finance → Payouts** for anything at **Scheduled**. Let those complete first — it's much simpler than retrieving them afterwards.

**Your subscription.** Deactivating an account is not the same as cancelling a paid plan. Cancel the subscription separately through **Settings → Plan & Billing → Manage**. See [Canceling Your Subscription](/hc/djs/articles/1786145664-canceling-your-subscription).

**Open proposals.** Decline anything you won't be fulfilling rather than leaving clients waiting.

## How to deactivate

1. Go to **Settings → Account**.
2. Scroll to **Security** and find **Deactivate Account**.
3. Select **Deactivate**.
4. Confirm your password.
5. Tick **I understand that I will lose access to DJfindr**.
6. Select **Deactivate**, then confirm.

## Coming back

There's no self-serve reactivation. If you try to log in, you'll be told the account is deactivated and to contact support. Email **support@djfindr.com** from the address on the account and we can reactivate it.

This is deliberate — it means deactivating isn't a decision you can't walk back.

## Don't create a second account

If you want to step away and come back later, deactivate and reactivate. Signing up again with a new email loses your reviews, your completed event count, your client history, and your handle — none of which can be moved between accounts.

## Just taking a break?

You may not need to deactivate at all. A busy block covering the period stops new bookings while everything else stays intact. See [Creating a Busy Block](/hc/djs/articles/creating-busy-blocks).

## Deleting rather than deactivating

There's no self-serve delete. If you want your data removed rather than your access suspended, email **support@djfindr.com** and ask — note that records tied to completed events and payments are kept where we're required to keep them.
