Two location settings decide which searches you turn up in. Both are under **Content → Profile → Location**.

## Primary Location

Where you're based. It shows on your profile card in search results and in the **LOCATION** stat at the top of your page. Set one — a profile without it reads as incomplete, and the field shows *"No location set"* until you do.

## Service Areas

Everywhere you'll travel to work. Select **Select** next to **Service Areas** to add them. Each area is either:

- **City** — a single city
- **State** — an entire state

A state-level area is a wide net. It puts you in results across that whole state, so only add one if you'll genuinely travel that far. Mixing both works well: your home city plus a couple of neighbouring cities, or your city plus your state if you tour it.

Your service areas appear on your public profile in the **Areas Served** block, as chips with a map.

## How this affects search

When a client searches, we match their event location against your service areas. If a city isn't covered by one of your areas — directly or through a state you've added — you won't appear in that search at all. This is the single most common reason a DJ sees fewer requests than expected.

## Travel cost is separate

Service areas say *where* you'll go. What you charge to get there is **Travel Cost**, under **Policies**, and it becomes the **Travel & Logistics** line on every proposal. You can adjust the amount per proposal, and the proposal builder includes a **Travel Calculator** that works out distance and drive time from a starting address.

## Keeping it current

If you move, update your **Primary Location** and review your service areas at the same time — they don't move with you.
